Monsters vs. Aliens (2009) trailer

Dream­works’ nieuw­ste cre­atie gri­jpt terug naar de mon­ster­films van de jaren ’50. Mon­sters vs. Aliens leent haar ver­haal­li­jn van het klassieke hor­ror-stripver­haal Rex Hav­oc and the Ass-Kick­ers of the Fan­tas­tic.

When Cal­i­for­nia girl Susan Mur­phy (Reese With­er­spoon) is unwit­ting­ly clob­bered by a mete­or full of out­er space gunk on her wed­ding day, she mys­te­ri­ous­ly grows to 49-feet-11-inch­es tall. Alert­ed to the threat of this new mon­ster, the mil­i­tary jumps into action and Susan is cap­tured and secret­ed away to a covert gov­ern­ment com­pound.

There, she is renamed Ginormi­ca strong and placed in con­fine­ment with a rag­tag group of oth­er mon­sters: the bril­liant but insect-head­ed Dr. Cock­roach, Ph.D. (Hugh Lau­rie); the macho half-ape, half-fish The Miss­ing Link (Will Arnett); the gelati­nous and inde­struc­tible B.O.B. (Seth Rogen); and the 350-foot grub called Insec­tosaurus. Their con­fine­ment is cut short, how­ev­er, when a mys­te­ri­ous alien robot lands on Earth and begins storm­ing the Unit­ed States. The evil alien Gal­lax­har (Rainn Wil­son) demands that the plan­et be giv­en to him.

In a moment of des­per­a­tion, The Pres­i­dent (Stephen Col­bert) is per­suad­ed by Gen­er­al W.R. Mon­ger (Kiefer Suther­land) to enlist the mot­ley crew of Mon­sters to com­bat the Alien Robot and save the world from immi­nent destruc­tion.

So what?

De film wordt geregis­seerd door Con­rad Ver­non en Rob Let­ter­man. Wan­neer ik de trail­er bek­ijk lijkt het een com­bi­natie Mon­sters Inc. (gelijkaardi­ge mon­sters), The Incred­i­bles (enorme robot als vijand) en Inde­pen­dence Day (massieve mil­i­taire aan­val haalt niets uit).

Plus: Stephen Col­bert die de pres­i­dent uithangt? Dat alleen is al genoeg om uit te kijken naar deze ani­matiefilm! Bij ons in de bioscoopzalen vanaf 1 april 2009. Ik hoop dat de mon­sters win­nen.
