Zoals wel vaker deze voorbije weken kijken we ook morgenavond naar twee afleveringen van de televisieserie ‘Lost’. Daarin zitten de overlevenden van een vliegtuigcrash vast op een schijnbaar verlaten eiland waar allerlei vreemde dingen gebeuren.

In één van de eerste afleveringen, wanneer de overlevenden tevergeefs een noodsignaal proberen te versturen, ontvangen ze een radiosignaal dat een Frans bericht uitzend. In die boodschap zitten ook cijfers. Het blijkt al gauw om lengte– en breedtegraad te gaan: 4.815N 162.342E.

Nu is het tegenwoordig niet meer zo moeilijk om op te zoeken wat er precies op die locatie ligt. Eventjes naar Google Maps, de gegevens ingeven en voila, het resultaat. Het kleine eilandje in de buurt blijkt Kosrae te heten, een exotische plek die deel uitmaakt van Federale Staat van Micronesië. Moesten de would-be Robinsons ietsje harder zoeken, ze zouden misschien een van de visrestaurants vinden.
