De inauguratie van president Obama

Op dinsdag, 20 januari 2009 werd Barack Obama beëdigd tot de 44ste president van de Verenigde Staten. Om 12:05u (plaatselijke tijd) legde hij de eed af in het bijzijn van John Roberts, de 17de opperrechter van het Amerikaanse Hooggerechtshof.

I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
