Tijdens een schaars vrij moment speel ik sinds kort een online spel waarin je een land kan aanmaken en regeren volgens je eigen opvattingen. Mijn landje is nog maar een week oud maar heeft toch al 8 miljoen inwoners. Dat is echter nog niks want ik heb landen gezien met biljoenen inwoners.
Mijn landje heet The Democratic Republic of Stijn Orion, volgens de Verenigde Naties behorende tot de categorie “Liberal Democratic Socialists”. Dit is de beschrijving die ik volgens de regering meekrijg:

Its compassionate, intelligent population of 8 million love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, socially-minded morass — concentrates mainly on Social Welfare, although Healthcare and Education are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 40%, but much higher for the wealthy. A very small private sector is dominated by the Gambling industry.
The dolfijntje is a protected species, Stijn Orion’s children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region, the government awards prizes to television shows featuring stereotype-breaking minority roles, and punitive tariffs protect local industry. Crime is totally unknown. Stijn Orion’s national animal is the dolfijntje, which frolics freely in the nation’s many lush forests, and its currency is the EURO.
Ik moet blijkbaar nog wat werken aan het bestuurssysteem en de privé, maar de rest ziet er toch goed uit.
